All about Australian Women
Remember the last time you went on an indulgent shopping trip entirely devoted to updating the cleanser, hair products and make-up that you’ve been using since 1997? Nope. I don’t either.
It’s so easy to get stuck in a beauty rut, simply picking up the same brands each time you visit your supermarket, despite the season or condition of your hair or skin. Most of us have minimal time and we are constantly trying to balance work, family and a social life, so taking a few hours to research and trial some of the newest products in the market just isn’t possible.
Enter our solution – Beauty Boxes. These handy monthly send-outs are the perfect gift (for yourself), as it lets someone else do the hard-work of finding the most advanced and exciting new products, packaging them up and posting them over for you to try.
Violet Box is one of these. For $16.50 a month, the girls at Violet Box post out a range of goodies worth up to $120 from international beauty brands like GHD, Lush and MOR for you to try.
Each month it’s like opening up a present!
Woman.com.au has partnered with Violet Box and each month we are giving two lucky readers the chance to serve as real-life reviewers. To be selected and to receive a free Violet Box for review, we need some information about you – simply complete the form at the end of this post or click here.
After trialling each of the products in the box, send us over a short review, along with some pics – and the products are yours to keep!
To give you a sneak peak of what’s to come, I’ve reviewed the products from the June Violet Box. Enjoy!
GHD Style Straight & Tame Cream – To the sigh of relief from frizzy-haired girls around Australia, GHD has released this taming cream that smooths and straightens. I have fine, straight hair, so used this product as a heat protector for my morning blow-dry. My hairdresser has been telling me for years that I need to invest in a quality heat protector, as straighteners, curlers and blow-dryers can cause permanent damage to the hair; but I’ve never really bothered to take this too seriously. Until now. This cream gave me hands-down the best blow-dry I’ve ever had (outside a salon). My hair was super shiny and glossy, without being heavy (because everyone with thin hair knows how gross heavy product makes your mane look). I only needed one pump of the product per use, but for those with thicker hair, I would recommend two or three pumps. Work the product through the ends (steer clear of the roots, as it could make them look oily) and blow-dry as usual!
Bioderma Pore Refiner – This is going to be a staple product for any gal with oily skin. Its light-weight formula is like an instant Photoshop buffer, turning large pores into a smooth, flawless base; the best part is, it doesn’t dull your skin like most refiners, so you still have a beautiful natural sheen. You can use this one with or without make-up, and when I used it on the weekend, I went bare-faced, with just a hint mascara and bronzer.
Appelles Blackseed Shampoo & Conditioner – I got this nifty travel-sized shampoo and conditioner just in time. I’ve noticed recently the winter wind drying out hair – especially at the tips which have been bleached for a balayage look (which is a trend that is never going out of style if I have any say). The scent of the products alone is something to rave about, but when I washed and conditioned my hair, I was left with glossy, healthy feeling locks. The herbal ingredients promise to promote collagen production in the scalp – always a plus!
